I'm Dario, driving instructor and founder of DriveLab. I teach trailer driving (Cat. BE) in Zurich and Zug – relaxed, well structured and with the DriveLab trailer if you don't have your own.
Dario Lichtensteiger: driving instructor and founder of DriveLab
I’m Dario Lichtensteiger, a driving instructor and the founder of DriveLab. I have been a driving instructor for 16 years. Today, I teach trailer driving (category BE) in Zurich and Zug, in German, English or Spanish.
Adult education and my MAS thesis
I studied adult education at the University of Teacher Education Lucerne (PH Luzern). In 2015, I submitted my master’s thesis, «Feedback als Lernchance für Busfahrerinnen und Busfahrer» (Feedback as a learning opportunity for bus drivers), for the Master of Advanced Studies (MAS) in Adult and Professional Education.
The thesis grew out of my work in public transport at the time. I developed an approach to feedback in the workplace, focusing on specific observations, self-reflection and how these can inform the next steps in learning.

Educational thinkers who inspire me
Professor John Dewey has had a lasting influence on me. His approach to learning through experience, often described as «learning by doing», particularly resonates with me: taking action and reflecting on what we experience.
The neuroscientist Gerald Hüther is another important role model for me. I am especially drawn to his emphasis on enthusiasm as a driving force for intrinsic learning: wanting to learn out of our own interest.
I also enjoy reading specialist literature on teaching and learning. I’m interested in how people learn and how good teaching can support them.
My teaching today
My current lessons focus on trailer driving. You can practise with your own towing vehicle and trailer or use the DriveLab trailer. Lessons last 90 minutes. A relaxed, structured approach matters to me, with time for calm, focused practice.
